What can I do with a neutral chair?
Just about anything! It’s because a neutral color gets along with just about any other color. Oh the possibilities!
For our demonstration we will be using a picture of a nice neutral slipper chair placed against a neutral wall. The chair is actually beige and the wall is a camel color. For the purpose of illustrating how neutral they look, all accents were removed. In effect it gives the overall look of being quite boring.
Now see what happens when you add accents and color!
Make a beige chair warm and cozy with reds and golds or make it cool and light by using blues, greens and white. Add texture to the slipper chair by using throws which can be positioned over the back or cascading off the seat. Pillows add a “wow” factor because they can be different sizes and shapes as well as different colors and patterns that make for an immediate emotional impact.
Consider changing light shades on a lamp, using a lighter shade in the summer or a barrel shape to make it more modern. When baskets are added, they give an organic feel to the area and having plants will add life as well as dimension. Finally, let’s not forget the accessories and how much they contribute to the overall effect!
Create your own interior design by using your favorite colors and your favorite items. Imagine how an area rug would unite the design as well. Decorating with neutrals can be fun!
